Great product! We moved our washing machine to the second floor in our home. Before we purchased GVI Vibration Dampener Pads, we used a 1 inch rubber mat. These pads made a huge difference. The floor no longer shakes during the spin cycle.

GVI Vibration Dampener Pads Installation:

Make sure that the wash machine is level before installing pads. Start with a clean dry floor. Lifting one side at a time, place pads under the feet of the wash machine. (Assistance may be needed lifting the machine.) Using two people is the recommended method. Make sure that the feet of the machine fit securely in the recess of the pad. Make sure that the pads do not move or spin under the feet. It may be necessary to adjust the feet slightly to hold the pads firmly to the floor. Recheck level.

To Attach Adhesive Discs:
Follow the installation instructions. After marking the proper location of the pads, remove the pad and clean the pad bottom with the Ampule provided. Caution, read the instructions and warnings on the Ampule carefully. Remove the white protective paper from the disc, and apply the disc to the pad. Make sure that the disc is in the proper location on pad, as it cannot be removed after it is applied. After the discs are applied to the pads, remove the red scored protective paper from the disc and replace the pads to the floor. Place the washer on the pads.

How To Avoid Unbalanced Loads:
Wash items of the same fabric together. Combine large and small items in a load. Load large items first. Large items should not be more than half the total wash load. Do not wash single items. This may cause an out-of-balance load. Add one or two more similar items.

FAQ - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will the pads fit under any washer or dryer?
Yes, the recess in the pad is designed to fit any washer or dryer.

Can the pads be used with a pedestal?
Yes.

Can the pads be used with stackable units?
Yes.

What are the dimensions?
The pads are 3 5/8 inches in diameter, 1 1/2 inches tall. The recess is 2 inches in diameter, 3/8 inch deep.

Will the pads stain the floor?
No.

How long will the pads last?
The pads will last as long as the life expectancy of your washer / dryer.

Will household detergents harm the pads?
No. Detergents, fabric softeners, and floor cleaning products will not affect the pads.

Do I need the adhesive discs?
Usually, no. The pads are designed to be placed on a flat surface. Some ceramic tile floors may have an uneven surface, and may require the discs. We suggest first trying the pads without the discs.

I have had second story installations of my last three washers over a period of twenty years.  Of course, while extremely convenient, there has always been an issue with noise.  Currently, the laundry room is on the second floor with a work-study area directly adjacent.  Even with the laundry room door closed, the noise from the washer during the spin cycle was an annoying distraction.  In fact, I actually used to time doing the laundry when everyone else was gone.  Rock-Stop has dramatically reduced the noise from the washer.  I even leave the door open when I am downstairs, so I can hear when the laundry is ready. I would highly recommend this simple solution to laundry room noise.

Rock-Stop Bar Installation:

(please read full instructions before installing)

1. Important: If Rock-Stop Bar was shipped cold, please allow 24hrs for bar to sit at room temperature before installation so adhesive gains full strength.

2. You must remove  any aftermarket vibration pads or devices if in use.

3. Make sure both washer and dryer are dead-level in machines' final location (please use level). Make sure machines are on the ground solid, especially if using pedestals, and machines don't move in any direction by rocking top in all four directions.

4. Look at both washer and dryer and mark position of both machines with pencil where Rock-Stop Bar is to be centered and mounted on machines.  It needs to be mounted on mutually flat surfaces on both machines.  Don't worry about covering split between top covers of machines and side panels for servicing.  You can use a utility or razor knife with straightedge to simply cut along the split.  The Velcro® brand hook and loop will cut easily.

5. If you have a flexible dryer gas line, leave washer in final position and move dryer away from washer at an angle and a few inches away. If you have a rigid gas line to dryer, it's recommended to move washer away from dryer at an angle and a few inches away.

6. Clean area where Rock-Stop Bar is to be mounted on both washer and dryer's metal surfaces with Isopropyl Alcohol and allow to dry for 5 minutes. Don't wipe away pencil marks! Make sure all soap and detergent residue is removed.

7. Rock-Stop Bar is marked 'TOP' so there's a cleaner looking side exposed between machines.

8. Peel off Mylar backing from one side of Rock-Stop Bar only. Be very careful with Velcro® brand hook and loop adhesive, very sticky. Avoid placing fingers on adhesive, hold at extreme ends instead. Once in place, it's very difficult to remove and replace.

9. Hold long side of Rock-Stop Bar at an angle until you line up the pencil marks. Place bar on one side of machine.  Best way to align bar is to kneel down and site the side of the machine to make sure it's straight and you're on a flat surface. Avoid the top radius of machine since it has no bearing surface to Rock-Stop Bar.  Once you have the edge where you want it, rotate it in position pressing down on the bar which will activate the pressure sensitive adhesive.

10. Peel off Mylar backing from other side of Rock-Stop Bar.

11. CAREFULLY push dryer into washer (or vice-versa) observing pencil marks for alignment.

12. Once machines are pushed into Rock-Stop Bar, make sure there's even pressure front to back on bar for adhesive to have full area of contact.  You can rock one side of machine or the other to get alignment flush.  Since the dryer is lighter than the washer, you may want to jerk-push or pull the dryer into the washer to make sure the Velcro® brand hook and loop and adhesive have adequate compression (do this from the side of the dryer if there's room).  To make sure, measure ~1.25" gap front to back between machines to align evenly.

13. Allow assembly to sit 24hrs for the pressure sensitive adhesive to gain full strength.

14. Do not overload washer per manufacturer's specs, no dampener will work in those cases.

15. If you need to split the machines apart, start peeling away one machine from the other at an angle starting from the front-side.  Velcro® brand hook and loop peels away easily and adhesive should stick to both machines and Rock-Stop Bar. If adhesive needs to be removed from machine (s) for any reason, common citrus solvents can be used.
